Honda, leading Japanese manufacturer of cars for the world market will launch it’s first Electric vehicle with the NACS port in 2025.
*NACS: North American Charging Standard also known as the Tesla Electric vehicle charging standard.
Just like any other automaker making a switch, Honda announced on Thursday that it will be joining other electric vehicle manufacturers, such as Ford and GM, in adopting Tesla’s charging technology.
Therefore, all all Honda EVs sold in the region of North America will have the Tesla charging port.
In the U.S., Tesla has about 17,000 Supercharger stations. There are about 54,000 public charging stations in total (including Tesla), according to the Department of Energy, but many charge much more slowly than the Tesla stations.
Analysts say that Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) connector and cord are much lighter and easier to handle than the Combined Charging System (CCS) used by the rest of the auto industry.

In the rise of electric vehicle technology, there have been interesting developments such as Honda adapting Tesla’s electric charging port, it is interesting to consider how this trend will impact developing countries like ours, Cambodia.
According to Khmer Times, Cambodia records 1,000% rise in EVs (Electric Vehicles) last year, 2022 reflecting the growing awareness of their benefits.
There are now more than 700 registered electric vehicles in the country, said Sun Chanthol, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, adding that the year 2022 opened a new page in the use of electric vehicles in Cambodia.
